CustomForm Transportation Systems, Inc. was founded by James D. Vaughn and Stephen M. Vaughn in 1989. The company was originally incorporated in the state of Texas in February of 1980.

CustomForm was founded on the philosophy that one of the main reasons manufacturers relied on in house private truck fleets was because they needed more control over the distribution of their goods due to demanding market place and customer service needs. Outside freight companies and common carriers often came up short when customer demands required something out of the ordinary.

Additionally, it was recognized that corporations who were able to divest themselves of their private truck fleets were able to dedicate the considerable resources required to operate and maintain a private fleet towards other needs.

This approach allows the corporations to concentrate on what they do best, manufacturing and or marketing their product. It also allows them to remove the exposure of public liability and employee liability issues related with the operation of a private fleet.

CustomForm believed that a company could offer customers the control over how their distribution system was managed, while at the same time allowing them to enjoy the freedom from having to operate and support their transportation infrastructure and without the associated public, corporate and labor liabilities.

The name “CustomForm” was initially chosen because it illustrated our ability to “custom form” a transportation solution that exactly fit what a customer desired and needed. At the time, this approach was different from most other transportation carriers who solicited and serviced customers by requiring them to settle for service based on how the carrier conducted operations. CustomForm was created to do exactly the opposite; to structure the operation around the customer’s needs, paying close attention to having the freight in the right hands, at the right time as determined by the customer, not the service provider.

Since it’s founding, CustomForm has provided transportation solutions with its own trucks and dedicated fleets ranging from single trucks to entire fleets to some of the largest (and smallest) corporations in the U.S.
